Can you believe it has been 30 years since the music world was introduced to British sensation, WHAM? Crazy but true and, fortunately for us, George Michael has recovered from a nasty bout with pneumonia and is more than willing to team up with former bandmate, Andrew Ridgeley, for a one-night celebration! That’s amazing!
As Michael explains: “On June 29 it will be 30 years to the day that 'Wham! Rap', our first single, entered the charts. To celebrate, I'm releasing my new song. I dreamed of a career as a singer/songwriter from an early age but never could I have known I'd still be here 30 years later, with much more music to give."
I’m not going to be able to get “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go!” out of my head all day, although I did love a lot of their other songs too (“Freedom,” “I’m Your Man”… heck, I play “Last Christmas” every holiday season!).
While the news is very exciting for fans, they shouldn’t get their hopes up about this leading to a more permanent reunion. One source says: "they probably won't do a long tour or release new material like Take That but they do want to commemorate the event with a big gig … And an even bigger party afterwards!”
With George Michaels involved, it’s most definitely going to be a party!
