Okay, let’s take a moment to digest the possibility that there could be a Baywatch movie. I know there have been a number of successful television to film adaptations of late but…really? I’m not sure about this and I’m not sure they could truly create a script that wouldn’t make this seem like one big joke. Like the original series. But I digress…
If that little rumor wasn’t enough, this one is downright astonishing – Justin Timberlake is apparently in talks to portray a competitive swimmer to heads to the beach as a lifeguard after his dreams of winning an Olympic gold medal fail to come true.
So, the saving grace is that it’s being described as similar to 21 Jump Street in terms of tone and feel of the script but I just don’t see how a cheesy beach-themed show could be compared to one about undercover cops in a high school. One is much easier to adapt into a funny, modern movie.
I guess we will just have to wait and see. Johnny Depp and other Jump Street alum showed up in the reboot, I wonder if the Hoff and Pamela Anderson will find a way to make a cameo. Now, that could be funny!
