American pop punk band, Blink-182, are likely to make some parts of their current world tour without their drummer, Travis Barker, next year.
Back in 2008, Barker barely survived a plane crash in which four people (crew and passengers) died. He has since not flown ... yes, NOT FLOWN ... choosing other means of transport when touring. Currently the band is touring Europe promoting their latest album, Neighborhoods, and are scheduled to tour Australia in 2013. The prospect of a 24 hour flight to the "Land Downunder" is too much for Travis Barker to bear. Hence, at this stage, the band will have to tour the Aussie leg without him.
Not wanting to disappoint fans, Travis said, "It's hard to say what the band could do or what its potential is, because I can't really get everywhere. I'm contemplating getting knocked out and getting on a plane to Australia. I want to overcome that eventually. My kids are scared to death to fly. I want them to witness me overcome it."
At this stage, Blink-182 have not made any statements about alternate details.
Currently they have been performing in the UK. Later this month they will return to Britain to headline Manchester's O2 Apollo on July 24, and then play London's O2 Academy Brixton on July 25 and 26.
Blink-182 achieved great success with the multi-platinum selling album Enema of the State in 1999 which sold more than 15 million copies worldwide.
Their latest album, Neighborhoods, was released in September, 2011. It has charted well, but not to the same extent as the highly successful Enema of the State.
The first single released from the Neighborhoods album was the track, Up All Night.
