Tyga Biography
Tyga is an acronym for Thank You God Always and the stage name for Michael Ray Nguyen-Stevenson. He was born on November 19, 1989 and is of Jamaican and Vietnamese descent. His first offering into the rap scene was an independent album he made when he was 18 called "No Introduction." "Diamond Life" from the album has been used on a couple of video games as well as in a movie.
Tyga has also released many mixtapes, which have incorporated the talents of Lil Wayne, Bow Wow, and Kevin McCall. "Deuces" was the most prolific of the mixtape releases and the debut single. It reached the top spot on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and #14 on the Hot 100. At the 53rd Grammy Awards, the single received a nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. In addition, "Deuces" was on Chris Brown's tracklist for his album "F.A.M.E."
"Coconut" was the first single released from an album for Tyga and it featured his cousin Travie McCoy. Between albums, Michael has continually released mixtapes. In addition, he has a collaborative album, "We Are Young Money," with Young Money Entertainment released in 2009.
The second album for Tyga is to be "Careless World: Rise of the Last King." It represents a continuation of style from the collaborative album. By way of introducing the new album, Tyga released a mixtape called "BitchImTheShit." Additionally, a single from the album was released in May of 2011 entitled "Far Away," which reached #86 on Billboard. Two more releases followed of "Still Got It," a #89 finisher, and "Rack City," which released in December 2011.
"Rack City" rose quickly and peaked at #8. The fourth single, "Faded," was released in mid January 2012.
